I decided to contact Microsoft support service yesterday, because my Windows Vista shown a Blue Screen after an attempt to install SP1. I followed the link in the MS help to a page offering me to either write an e-mail to them or contact an operator in the chat. Since an e-mail converstion seemed to last too long, I decided to chat with the operator.
After I’d passed the identity check proccess, I was connected to the chat. The operator responded very quickly, and that was really nice. For example, when I tried to have a conversation with Norton Antivirus support, no one ever answered even in a half an hour.
After asking me not to worry for several times, the operator patiently led me through the proccess of identifying my problem. Finally, he asked me to let him connect to my Desktop via the remote access (MSDT – Microsot Diagnostic Tools). I agreed to it.
On the whole, all his actions were neat and sure. The only thing made me laughing a bit was the way the operator tried to work in a Russian-language interface
And I should admit, he did it very well, even though he had to ask me to click one or another thing from time to time.
It appeared to be quite interesting to see your coursor is moving while you do nothing. To watch your contact is typing symbol by symbol was nice too. Why don’t they put such an option in one of the IMs?
Though my problem was that the video drivers were too old, and they hadn’t been updated since the summer 2008, I enjoyed the almost a half and an hour-long conversation, and Microsoft now looks a bit better to me.
Just now they sent me two letters asking to tell them, if I have resolved my problem. So nice!
